Book Review - Lock & Key by Cat Porter - **** ½ Fresh, Different MC Stars
I love a good biker book. I love dipping into their gritty world. Quite often I love a hot and heavy love story to go alongside it.
This had one of those with a twist, because here we have Grace, who was an old lady until something terrible happened that ripped her world apart and sent her spinning from town to town for sixteen years avoiding the place she once called home.
However, life has now decided to drag Grace back home. Her sister is sick and needs her, so back she must go.
On her way back, she pitstops overnight in a small town and ends up having a fling with Miller. In the morning, she creeps out of the room and finishes her journey home, but life isn’t finished throwing twists at her yet.
This is quite gritty in places. It switches from present to past, so you get the inside scoop on how she met her husband and everything that lead up to the day he was killed. You also find out stuff about Grace that might surprise you. For me, that was like a breath of fresh air. I had thought i’d got a handle on who she was, but then I saw a whole different side to her.
And Miller, oh Miller - what a swoonworthy guy he was. How I was praying for a happy ever after for them both.
This book has it all, love and love, happiness and heartbreak, the art of creation and the art of destruction. It whips you all around, making you doubt who you can trust, and trust those who you doubt. What a great little gem of a book. I’ll definitely be looking up other books by Cat Porter in the future.
