Connection, this word describes the way I feel about Ginger Voight’s stories.
There’s always a connection I marvel in. SOUTHERN ROCKER BOY did NOT fail to meet the standards I’ve grown accustomed to and once again I connected with Ginger’s characters immediately.
Jonah was a sweetheart, every girls dream. He looked after his own and was as loyal as they come. What happens to Jonah was a total shock to his system and his naive ways shine through. I wanted to kick his arse at times but he only did what he truly felt was right. Even though I thought he was being manipulated I could see where he was coming from with his wonderfully kind heart.
Lacey was another kettle of fish. We only get glimpses into who she really is therefore I’m still figuring her out. I really liked her character, she was a kick ass girl who took no crap from anyone.
Ginger likes to play with your head a little and I’m guessing there’s going to be some tough scenes to read in the next addition to the series. But this was an excellent build up. It read beautifully and the writing is top drawer. I was invested from the start and never found a dull moment. I was gliding along and enjoying the ride. Then it happened … I heard familiar names mentioned and I got goosebumps. Vanni & Graham made an entrance, a cameo appearance albeit and I was like a kid in a candy store! My eyes lit up and I did a happy dance. This didn’t go down well as I was currently on a plane flying over the Red Sea, but hey ho. I had to take my iPhone out to write this review, (yeah it syncs to my mac and all my thoughts are on my phone!) I was buzzing and had to put it into words. I was becoming really unpopular with fellow passengers who were eyeing me suspiciously but who believes all that crap about phones interfering with the flight? This was Ginger and Vanni! I’d go down happy!! And I have to say I landed safely and contented.
I could not believe where Ginger took me, it was a blast from the past and I am chomping at the bit for more.
Eagerly awaiting the next instalment. This was music to my ears!
