***** love the dynamics between these two and need more books on his crazy family stars
I love when I chose a book on the synopsis from a review list, and the book completely surpasses my expectations. This book was a real find.
The main couple Matt & Lauren bounced off each other so well, Matt was so cocksure and arrogant, and Lauren was this unexpected, multi faceted creature who I just adored. It’s something when I’m reading a book and the dynamic between a couple has me thinking back to another couple from a really really well known funny book and loving these just as much, but seeing a similarity in the push and pull dynamic between them.
Matt & Lauren hook up after she meets him to look at the proposed site for her new school. Matt is the architect and whilst the site didn’t stand up to inspection, they both did to each other.
From then we have Matt is full on alpha, slightly stalkerish possessive mode (just on the fine line of not too much!), and Lauren looking for the nearest exit, but unable and unwilling to extract herself.
Combine this all with an insane dad, a bunch of sisters and brothers with their own foibles, this is one entertaining story.
For the most part, this book has a light hearted feeling, until you get to the latter parts. But for me, that’s like life. When you are in the early part of a relationship everything is sunshine and rainbows but real life has a way of peeking it’s head in and making you sit up, take note and have to knuckle down at time.
In particular, I found one of the later scenes very poignant - when you read it, it won’t be hard to figure out why.
I really loved this couple together and I also loved Matt’s crazy family. I really need to read more about the siblings, especially the sister who is travelling, it seems like there is much more to her story than you actually see.
It’s funny because I always say I don’t do romance books and Matt’s over the top ways could make people think that this book wouldn’t have been for me. Without the banter, they would probably have been right, but with the banter, I loved it.
Go and one click this book, if you want something fun and flirty with a dose of real life thrown in. I promise you, you’ll enjoy the ride.
