I really enjoyed this book.
While it was not my usual light and fluffy read, it held my attention just as much!
The story had lots of ups, downs, twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat!
We meet Taryn, a girl who dealt with the shittiest of life and living on the wrong side of the track, she's offered the chance of a better life so takes it, but is everything as it seems? All that Taryn's been through would be enough to subdue the strongest of people and just when you thought you knew it all, she pulled more out of the bag. Tijan has created a character that's not only badass but one in which you can't help but feel genuine sorrow for, beneath all the crap she's a good girl and her strength is admirable.
Jace is part of Taryn's old life and one she's trying to escape, he's the bad boy you can't help but feel for. I liked how Tijan made us love him but hate his way of life. Whilst I liked the dynamic between Taryn and Jace I would've liked there to have been more about their relationship. I can't wait to read Jace's book.
Tray, who better for Taryn to fall into the arms of when her heart needs to heal? Taryn's turmoil is perfectly balanced by Tray- the king of her new school he gives Taryn everything she needs to find herself and supports her when most would have ran a mile-Everyone needs a Tray in their life!
The twist – what can I say? I didn't see that one coming! What a shock!! I Love it when you're hit with a totally shocking and unpredictable outcome!
Over all, a great piece from Tijan - an intricate coil of drama, love, life, friendships, relationships, lies, deception and truths all unfolded in a skilfully written story.
I award a white knuckled, edge of seat clenching 4 Stars!
