Ok I am going to start by saying I can not believe I am only giving a Maddox novel a 3* rating, well actually 3.5* this hurts!!
There's never been a doubt in my mind that Jamie McGuire is anything but awesome when it comes to creating swoon worthy men, Travis is in my top 3 book boyfriends and beautiful disaster is my go to book, the Douchebag speech is also one of the only quotes from a book I remember!!
So I guess I had high hopes for this, everyone was saying how Trent would knock Travis of his perch even though I was unsure this would happen, I thought he must at least come close with this praise but for me that didn't happen, he wouldn't even rank in my top 10. Although Trent was not my fave book boyfriend there's no doubt that he's a hottie and with lines like these it's hard not fall in love with him!

Don't get me wrong I loved Trent, just not immensely, Cami I was sort of indifferent with. I neither loved nor hated her to be honest she was just Trent's girlfriend, 'who was in trouble, big Maddox trouble'.
I would've liked to have fell for her a little more.
The whole thing with Cami and TJ, I just didn't get, I didn't feel any connection to them as a couple at any point. All the way through I kind of queried Cami and TJ's relationship so the shock wasn't a massive shock, although I was still surprised that was the way the author went with it.
It's hard to explain why I felt that way without giving spoilers so we'll just leave it at that.
I feel as though maybe running the story alongside the timing of Travis and Abby meant that the author was just squishing parts of their story in for the sake of it. Maybe re-reading the first two books will have helped with the crossovers between the two.
The good point is that due to the author, the book was well written and it kept me hooked! I read it in two sittings and could not put it down.
As for the twist, I really don't know how we got there. I read it late so thought perhaps I was too tired and had missed something big, therefore the next day I re-read the final 50pages and it appears it was just wishful thinking! I was just as confused and underwhelmed the second time around.
I'm hoping that in the next book the author will revisit this major point from another POV so we get an insight to the big reveal that I feel we missed out on.
All this aside I did enjoy my Maddox fix and there's no doubt that Jamie McGuire can write a great book, I still look forward to the next book and will probably re read this before the next instalment, in the hope it all makes sense.
Every Maddox fan should read this I mean whose gonna turn down the opportunity of snuggling in bed with a Maddox boy for a couple of nights...certainly not me!
Whilst it wasn't a 5* read for me it was a good solid 3.5* book I am pleased to have read and I eagerly await the next instalment!
