I enjoyed this story, it was well written, it mostly kept my attention and the characters were likeable.
So we have Melissa who we find out is in a not so great relationship after believing she had her fairytale life - Her best friend Elaine is the only one who knows the real truth of this, see's her friend struggling and takes her away on a last minute girly weekend spa break! (We all could do with a friend like Elaine!)
One night in the hotel bar alone and Melissa meets Derek! The ever Famous 'Spark' is present between them and boom we have hot scenes galore! They decide on a one week holiday fling equating to more hot scenes! And they are really hot! After getting along for most of the week, they inevitably develop feelings for each other and are both realising they want more than this one week together- but the lack of communication between them on this front is a little frustrating! The Ride these two are on is a little predictable but still enjoyable. What happened to the best friend Elaine? > She found a play toy and kind of, sort of, disappeared into the background without much more of an input to the story.
The plot twists and turns when they both return back to their 'everyday' lives, revealing the truth behind Melissa's relationship with her soon to be Ex-husband. Giving the reader a whole new burst of interest in the story. Although I didn't know exactly what was coming, I knew something was, as a lot of clues were given early on in the story. (I don't want to give too much away here).
I thought that when Melissa got her affairs in order she showed a lot of strength and backbone which made me like her character a whole lot more!
When Melissa and Derek finally found each other again- I wanted a little more fight involved to add to the huge 'romantic' gesture of it all, but felt it was only briefly dealt with.
The ending was again quite predictable but it took nothing away from the readers enjoyment!!
I would give this book a 3.5 star rating as it was missing the WOW factor for me, but would most definitely recommend this book as I did really enjoy it! Definitely going to buy and read on in the series to find out where Elaine disappeared to!
