Maz - I thought i’d scene set, you know because the cover made me feel all Christmassy
*Maria looks around in horror at the 6 foot decorated tree and tinsel. Then she sees the roaring fire, eggnog, rolls her eyes at that and goes to get a Diet Coke from the fridge, stops to pinch some After Eight’s from the box, shrugs and sits down.*
Maz - Ah, it’s the time of the year. Christmas is coming and i’m getting the urge to don a chunky knit, grab a hot chocolate and sit in front of a roaring fire with my kindle. The perfect book for such an occasion, a feel good novella, and Aurora has hit the nail perfectly on the head with this one.
Maria - I was so excited to delve back into the Mayson family, even as the extension of Maysons by being Novembers dad. The Christmas books are all coming now and as I love Christmas this was the perfect one to start with!
Maz - Second Chance Holiday is about Mike, who you might remember is Novembers Dad. Kat is the geeky girl from school, now all grown up and separated with a teenage boy to look after. A chance meeting again in a hardware store puts Kat back firmly in Mike’s sights, and the two begin to regularly hook up.
Maria - I enjoyed this book, it was great for Mike to get his story told, and I took to Kat immediately. I felt like she needed to be looked after, like she was precious but had never have someone realise her worth.
Maz - When Kat decides that she wants more than just her bed warming, things fall apart between them. Can Kat & Mike find their way back to happy ever after?
Maria - Mike just has to be ready to move forward too, before they can move on together but it’s whether he can open his heart again and trust.
Maz - This is a sweet, second chance romance. I loved watching not only the interaction that Mike had with Kat, but also his interaction and acceptance of her son, and the welcome into the Mayson fold. That gave me the warm and fuzzies.
Maria - Oh my yes! I loved the eventual relationship between Mike and Brandon, it was beautiful!
Maz - If I had one gripe, it would be that I wanted more. I wanted a glimpse back into the past to see the interaction between a teen Mike and teen Kat, I wanted more of the relationship growing and evolving to the point where the realisation came. I know i’m just being greedy but I guess that’s because I love Aurora’s writing so much.
Maria - Funnily enough I have the same gripe. I felt like there was so much more of the story to tell and it shouldn’t have been a novella, and it jumped around quite a lot too. Saying that though, you cannot take away from Aurora’s fabulous way of writing that kept me entertained throughout and made me love Mike loads.
Maria - It was 4 short, beautiful stars for me.
Maz - it’s 4, give me more, stars from me.
